The mineral rich celtic Le Paludier grey sea salt and Fleur de Sel harvested by traditional celtic methods in the ancient celtic salt flats of Guérande, Brittany, by the sea, in southern France, are cherished for their exceptional quality and fine natural sea salt taste. The unrefined Le Paludier grey sea salt is of a light grey colour because of the fine grey clay from the ancient celtic salt marshes developed by ancient celtic artisan sea salt farmers. (see photo below) Many say it is the best sea salt on the planet. With nothing added and nothing removed, just the way nature intended. Le Paludier sea salt is not harvested by machine but by "paludiers" (traditional celtic artisan sea salt harvesters: see photo to left) who hand-harvest this "fruit of the ocean, sun & wind" for all to enjoy. Le Paludier grey sea salt is available in two forms: coarse grey celtic salt or fine stoneground grey celtic salt. Le Paludier grey sea salt and Fleur de Sel sea salt are certified by "Nature et Progres" (European mark of exceptional quality and purity) to be 100% *natural (*no additives), hand-harvested by the ancient celtic methods of sea salt harvesting, processed by natural organic celtic methods of sea salt processing, unrefined, and free of pesticides, herbicides, and chemical residues. This is the highest and most stringent level of certification for sea salt. |

Fleur De Sel de Guerande: "the champagne of sea salt" (tm), is a very special celtic artisan sea salt. Delicate and exquisite fine moist granules of whitish-grey Fleur de Sel sea salt are traditionally harvested by celtic methods (mostly by women) by skimming the surface of the sea water of the ancient celtic salt marshes. From Guerande, in the ancient Celtic Sea region of Brittany, France. All of our sea salts are from the ancient celtic salt marshes of Guerande by the sea, Brittany, France, and are hand-harvested using traditional celtic organic sea salt harvesting methods. All of our sea salts are mineral-rich, unrefined, unbleached and chemical-free as nature intended. |

Celtic history: about the Celtic Sea, the Celtic people of Brittany and the history of sea salt harvesting:
There were 7 Celtic Sea nations, or places where the ancient Celtic peoples lived on the shores of the ancient Celtic Sea. Brittany, by the sea in Southern France, is one of those ancient Celtic Sea nations. Celtic culture and traditions still survive there to this day. The Celtic people of Brittany by the sea developed the sea salt flats in Guerande and the ancient practice of harvesting sea salt with simple wooden sea salt harvester's hand tools. This practice is carried on to this day by the descendants of those ancient "paludiers" ( sea salt farmers ) who still produce Le Paludier grey sea salt and Fleur de Sel Sea Salt by hand in the traditional Celtic way.
