Spirit Bear Body Care is named in honour of the endangered white Spirit Bear who inhabits an area of coastal rainforest in BC Canada which is threatened by clearcut logging.

On April 4, 2001

The B.C. government created a sanctuary for the Spirit Bear. A land-use agreement banned logging in selected areas of the proposed Great Bear Rainforest, which includes ancient coastal forests about 500 kilometres north of Vancouver. Environmentalists, forest companies and eight coastal native groups were all party to the agreement. More than one million hectares were protected immediately, and there was no logging on a second, even larger portion of land for 1-2 years to allow further study.
